Hi Taffy. We've used a halogen oven from time to time on our travels although you have to be aware of the amps output the camp site gives you.
Mrs R has this formula uppermost in her mind when she uses any of our electrical appliances on sites.
Watts = Amps x Volts (or Amps = Watts divided by Volts). In your case Amps = 1400W divided by 230V = 6 + Amps. Bare in mind that you'll have other things running at the same time so you'll probably need a 10Amp supply to be safe.
We've found that another good investment is a slow cooker.

The other thing that many folk swear by is an induction hob. This is the one we bought last year Andrew James Induction Hob
and it was worth every penny.
However we had to get a new set of pans suitable for using on the new hob so we bought this very neat set Outwell Feast Set that pack up inside each other.

Randa mentioned this the other day, and having struggled a bit last weekend with regular pans from our kitchen, on his recommendation I ordered the Outwell set (though the medium size rather than the large which the RFs have), from GO Outdoors. It arrived yesterday, and we could not be more pleased both with the quality and compactness of the pan set and with the service of the company which supplied them. Good call, Roger!

Seem to remember a member of another place using one and getting great interest when we were at Callow Top about 5 years back. It was the strange blue glowing alien in their front windows.
Got the Remoska that Carole was told about, expense no object when it's her cooking facilities. Guess I might have to learn how to use that too.

Ref the Outwell Feast pan set........
We also bought the medium set to use on our induction hob. However we were disappointed to find that the pan which becomes the lid does not sit or locate properly on the top. Is this common to all the sets or just ours?

Aha. Didn't you get a 1" wide, bright yellow elasticated band with yours? When we purchased ours from Go Outdoors, the medium sets were fitted with the yellow band whereas the large sets were not.
I therefore "convinced" the staff that the band must have been missing from the set we bought and that I had therefore liberated one from the medium sets. It wasn't yours was it?
The purpose of the band is to retain the frying pan when used as a lid.

I shall have to look again. As far as I recall ours doesn't have the yellow elastic, and the set is held together by a hefty rubber band. However, when cooking, the lid closely fits both the frying-pan and the big pot. The frying-pan is only inverted and acts as a "lid" when the set is packed for travel.
