Has anyone used, or thought of using something like this? Inflatable Car Jack

Apart from the fact that it looks like a great solution for those wobbly caravan jack moments during wheel changing, it would appear that many caravvaners use it as a quick solution for side to side levelling on sloping camp sites. Jack the van up, slide the levellers under the wheel, remove jack.

Have just read somewhere that they obviously should never be used on a caravan under floor as it's not strong enough to take the weight. Therefore some sort of rigid pad under a chassis member would be necessary.
We already carry such a thing, a 400mm square offcut of kitchen worktop, to put under the foot of our side jack, to act as a level base.

I've used them in the past a very long time ago, ideal in certain circumstances, we used them predominately for heavy vehicle recovery on soft ground, no idea about using them on a road though especially on a caravan, I do know that in the early days they used the exhaust for inflation

The other thing is they used to have quite a large surface area in contact with both the ground and the "thing" being lifted, which makes me think they would be more suited to use on a caravan than conventional jack (most of which have a surface area of about 1 to 3 inches) boot heel or stiletto basically.

They teach you truth is good, then when you tell the truth everyone get's offended!

Do those people use it when the car isn't attached?

If they did, and since it isn't rigid, I'd be a bit leery of it collapsing sideways if the van started to pivot about the one wheel in contact with the ground, handbrake on or not.

Would you ditch your proper jack and rely on this? If you didn't, isn't it just an extra thing to carry?

Not that I'm trying to pee on your firework or anything...

If we are talking caravan jack then I think I would if I could afford one for we are currently using an Audi side jack which fits into the square tube just behind the road wheel. Even when using on reasonably flat, firm ground, it doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence.

Whilst on the subject of jacking up Eribas, how do folk with movers manage? The mover must be in the way of the square tube I refer to above (which, I believe, isn't the intended jacking point).

I think that's the important bit.......there is no actual 'jacking point'. The only time I ever jacked up an Eriba was under the actual main chassis member which of course is round.
The trolley Jack I used had a shaped part which located fairly securely but it must be difficult to use the average scissor jack safely.

Is the tube you're talking about the one to which the mudflap on ours is fastened?

It's blanked off at the end, so you couldn't stick anything in it.

It doesn't really help your situation - or answer the question - but our Troll came with Kojack points bolted to the chassis. Sadly the jack itself took a stroll at some point before we got the van, but I managed to get one off Ebay eventually. It works fine now that I've changed the hydraulic fluid, but it isn't perfect. Its base isn't all that big and it weighs about as much as a baby hippopotamus.

yes that's the one. It's open on older vans and I've read that many Eribarists use this as a side jack slot. Old VW van jacks, Beetles and some Audi side jacks fit into the box section.
We bought our Audi jack for a tenner from a salvage yard.

"Yes that's the one. It's open on older vans". That's interesting because on older vans it's a true 1" square box section but it's only about 9" long and welded in line, beneath the cross chassis member, which is a smaller profile than on your van.
Therefore, that must be one of the beafier sections on newer vans to give them a greater payload.
