Overnight stopover in France

We've been recommended a nice campsite in Marseillan-Plage in southern France and from where we live the distance to travel would be in the order of 980km - 1,000km so I think it's fair to say that an overnight stopover on the way down (and return) is in order.

Can anyone recommend a campsite somewhere close to the motorway A39 due West of Lac Leman as this is pretty much the half way distance?

Hi Deeps. The closest we've been is about 25 klicks east of the A39 near Lac de Chalain.
Two campsites.
The first we stayed at years ago and it was a terrific camp site with huge pitches and deserves at least a few days stop over. It's Domaine de Chalain and it's ACSI 1819.
More recently we stayed at an OK small site called Les Merilles ACSI 1820. This one is very close to some spectacular waterfall walks.

Yup - mid July

Thanks Roger. Have flagged them on my working map and will look more deeply into them if next years trip comes to fruition. We've still got 3 more trips planned for this year and already she who must be obeyed is thinking ahead to 2016.

Agreed Tony, you have to book it that far ahead. Never tried though.
