I have today washed the Eriba and when getting up on steps to do the roof I have orange spots which I think us pollen from a tree. I have tried Aldi caravan cleaner and black stuff but it's not budging. Any suggestions on how to remove them?

In a previous post you stated you had Mer polish. This has good clensing properties and a very mild abrasive. Apply with damp microfibre or stockinette and apply mild pressure at first, bit more pressure on the yellow spots if required.

If your polish doesn't remove the stains try the JML magic eraser, I have used them on my plastic trims to remove grime with very good results. Ebay and Amazon also sell them. I have also seen them in wilkinson and Morrison's.

Also I have found this DIY trick on the web using household items, I have never tried it but may be worth a go.

How certain are you that it is pollen?
Has anybody been using an angle grinder nearby recently?
I only ask because I remember a story on similar lines about orange spots on a roof and it turned out that they were tiny rusty flakes thrown up by an angle grinder. As they were hot they had melted themselves onto the surface then rusted!

You could also try using a clay bar as used by auto detailers. It's amazing what muck they remove from paintwork prior to waxing.

I think it is pollen as if I rub hard it will fade and nearest the tree is the worse area. It's not terrible I am just really fussy about cleaning vehicles and I want a sparkly roof.

I'm pretty certain its bee poo. And if I'm right, then it is mostly pollen or derived from pollen. I used to keep bees, and I was constantly having complaints from the other half that her washing was spotted with bee poo. And our pitch on the Whitsun trip was close to an apiary and there were the orange spots again, this time on the newly-waxed Eriba. It should come off with spit and a fingernail. Leave the spit to work for a minute or so.

I almost posted it was as if it was insects marks but thought that sounds odd. I do think the bee mention is right as I have had these marks on my washing as well. I will try the mer polish and elbow grease. Many thanks for the help as always good advice.. And the tree has had lots of activity with insects.

I will try the vanishing block as I have one before polishing. Was hoping to BD it but need all the marks off first. How do you all get to reach the centre of roof as ii have a polisher but can't quiet reach. Short of dangling out of upstairs window like Tom Cruise to the roof it a bit mission impossible for a woman with average arms!

In the early days I used to tape my polisher to a broom handle I could tell how I did it when I got my new polisher but would have the H & S executive on my case despite being NEBOSH qualified!

Likes to wax and have a smooth finish! Has an empty space where once a very polished Eriba stood😎

Well until a couple of hours ago I too owned an electric polisher but that has now been sold to a lucky gentleman on Fleebay. I bought it specifically for giving the car a good going over prior to selling it and also to buff up the caravan roof. However, having given the machine a quick test it dawned upon me that in my hands this thing was a liability and I'd probably end up causing more damage to the paintwork that any restoration - hence the sale.

Last week I washed, polished and waxed the caravan roof using something along these lines buying additional pads for the different stages of the job. Standing on some step ladders the job was relatively easy and if I'd thought about it first, could have saved myself a rather hefty outlay. OK, arms and shoulders hurt like buggery but I feel sure that was as a result of my becoming soft in old age and also, they'd probably have hurt a lot more welding a heavy electric polisher around lol.

I should have thought about the idea first as when on a trip I take along something quite similar. It has a telescopic pole which clips on to the head and onto which, via velcro, a nice soft cleaning pad is attached. At the end of the pad is also a slice of rubber (think window cleaning gear) and this allows me to easily wash off the awning roof after it has rained - rainwater is always dirty or any bird droppings - and also allows me to squeezy off any morning dew.

Thank you all for very useful advice. I now have a nice shiney roof. The mer polisht the orange spots off with a little rub and use of fingernail. I have also just finished and sprayed it after a rinse with BD.
