East Anglia is Cambridge and, yes, I have been looking at Dom Fox's web site. He's not too far from me, so could pop up there one day to have a look around. It would be good to get inside a number of different vans and really start to get a grasp of their layouts etc.

In the meantime, I have been carrying on with my researches on line and looking for vans for sale - both here and abroad. It does appear there can be a significant saving to be had buying in Holland and I've already identified 2 or 3 vans that would fit my spec. However, I'm not rushing into any hasty purchases. I want to see a few vans first so I have a 'context' in which to make a decision...

Be aware that Continental vans are not built to the same specification as those intended for the UK market and will need to be adapted.

Hob posted an excellent account of what he had to do to his Dutch-sourced van. See here

If you are not familiar with Eriba caravans it is worth a visit, he had a dozen or so vans in stock ...........everything from Puck to Troll when I called in a month ago.

I originally thought a centre kitchen and three berth wiould be best for my need but when inside the flor space was better with end kitchen and seemed less confined with the longer beds and went for a 420. I was so glad I took the time and Dom let me into a few and discuss with him. I ended up with exactly what I wanted with a little cupboard that makes into a table top sufficient for two people. But have ended up with 6 persons sitting around in there with a glass or two! The trolls are easier to find in the set up I wanted but the 420 not so commonplace.

Some good things here. Taffy's comments about the different space in side the van for a 420 is an interesting perspective and just the sort of comments I've been hoping for. I was aware that there had to be some adjustments to a 'European' van for UK use, and the posting by Hob is perfect - comprehensive and again, just what I need. Thanks all...

Hugh
