Was hilarious. Just took her down a quiet lane with not much traffic and practiced reversing her. Much laughing and screaming at the impossible angles I got into but think I got the hang of it (ish) after an hour. Got a couple of smiles and waves from people going by on horses.
Only went a mile on flat road but drove very well. I'd say equivalent to driving with the weight of all my camping gear in the back.
Have booked a nice caravan park in Ashbourne to go away next weekend. Am now very excited !!!
Well done!! For giving the reversing a go just keep practicing you'll soon be showing off your prowess on sites far and wide, many will admire and comment, just shows it can be done if your willing to spend a bit of time confidence will soon grow and you'll be running reversing classes

Ha ha. Thanks, though will hardly become a pro. Just managed to get it in the general direction so I can man-handle her into position.
It was the reversing that was freaking me out, didn't want to get stuck anywhere red faced & without a clue so bit the bullet and spent some time practicing. Reversing in a straight line was easy enough using my mirrors and much swinging on the steering wheel. After the 4th attempt at reversing around a corner it did get a little easier but by no stretch of the imagination was there any grace in it.
Let's hope I remember some of it when I get to my destination on Friday. Will be an amusing view to the other campers if not anyway.

I thought I had mastered reveresing and was doing Ok then not using her for 2 yrs, I forgot it all and now have a mover. Goodluck and keep pracising. It will come easy to you being that much younger. Of course you are trying the most difficult of all, two small vehicles, very short wheel base ete etc

You'll be fine remember low engine speed (tickover, mostly) is your buddy! Small (especially with a Puck) steering wheel movements, FWIW I always reverse on my mirrors, some will say you have a blind spot but you can suffer from that when turning to see where your going, I trust my method and have always emplyed it

I hate reversing but this method really does work

Yes, smaller is certainly not easier. I got a small car to make driving easier but have found it's harder to manoeuvre than a big car, I often parked skew whiff to the parking lines in a supermarket....... and then I go and get a Puck.
Thanks for the link Crow, makes more sense now :-)
And Hampshireman. thanks for the 'young' comment, much appreciated!!!
