How to wax a textured finish Pan

This issue must have been raised many times.
Please advise how do I wax my newly acquired 1988 Pan. It has textured panels and washing has proved a challenge and my instincts tell me the polish will sit in the low spots and just lay there showing dusty whiite.
I've bought this Pan back to life after a period of neglect andnwant to give it a protective coat in addition to a quality wash.
Thank you Keef

I think I would be inclined to try polishing mitts, just for the feel and feedback
your hands would give you.

I suggest a clean with a good caravan cleaner and get as much out of the 'valleys' of the texture as possible - then apply "Bobby Dazzler' which gives it a good protection.

With mine I found that car wax etc is almost impossible to polish out of the 'valleys' and unfortunately does not stay white but attracts the dirt and gets dark/black and nearly impossible to remove ! Then it is important not to let it get too dirty !

And the advice given by "Crow" will be a great help too - you do need to get it as clean as possible or it gets worse !

Hi Keef, yes you are quite correct, if you use polish on a dimple Eriba you will be left with white deposits in the hollows.... I know this from experience after using MER polish on my dimpled Puck.. And boy did it take a lot of elbow grease to get rid of it. Give it a really good wash with some caravan cleaner then use some Bobby Dazzler with a garden spray which will give it a polished look.

Here are my thoughts which won't please ALL!!

We had a dimpled Burstner for 18 years, so I know what I'm talking about. You can't givve something an occasional wash and expect it to remain as it was when it was new.

Our Burstner was a humongous single axle van and of course being a traditional van it was difficult to reach the roof or top of the sides!

I used warm water, with the shampoo applied directly to a "noodle" type wash mitt, occasionally I would put some "domestos bleach" in the water, I found this helped remove "road grime" we were towing back from Hameln Germany to Gloucester at least 6 times a year as well as holidaying on the continent.

I only ever "waxed" the roof as I was told by the German dealer not to try and wax the dimpled finish with paste wax. It is possible to buy (wash in / on) type waxes but again you'll only add to your problems if you apply it to a dirty dimple

I appreciate some of you don't have the time I now have, but when we had the Burstner nor did I, it was a case of "wanting" to do it for me.

If you do get it how you want it eventually, then you could look at applying a sealant or glaze which is what the car detailers do, I have no experience of this but it could help? easier than deep cleaning everytime!

I could of been a lot more brutal with my description above but that would offend, so "toned" it down a bit, "no one said owning a caravan was easy"

Likes to wax and have a smooth finish! Has an empty space where once a very polished Eriba stood😎

I use Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner, then Bobby Dazzler, I wax the roof and front
to make it easier for kamakazi insects to glance off. Polishing your Eriba to a
good shine helps it go faster and saves fuel
