...............to sit on the Thetford toilet lid to have a shave in the caravan washroom - but it ain't.

Here's what happened to mine when I lathered up one morning:

Unfortunately, new toilet lids are not available separately and the cheapest seat/lid combination I can find is £34.95 delivered. Werbung: here

This price does seem exorbitant though when a new holding tank, seat and lid plus tank and bathroom cleaning products can be had as a Thetford 'Fresh-up' kit for £104.49. (inc. £22 delivery) Werbung: here

Cue unfeasibly large buttocks jokes.

It's the photograph that makes it look that way, isn't it? I didn't think they did anything other than white.

You must have a garage the size of the airship hangar at Cardington to hold all the things you have somewhere.

Pete's right, it is white.

If you are serious and want to flog it, send me a PM, Rod.

I'm sooooo excited! After wiping off any old buttock prints, careful wrapping and an appropriate transfer of funds, that nice Mr. crow has placed his bog seat into the hands of the courier and, even as I type, it is winging its way in a south-easterly direction.

So you can start marinading that very large leather hat now M. le Pew. The cooking method I'll leave to you.

The very carefully packaged replacement seat and cover arrived by courier this morning and have now been fitted. A simple, two minute job.

Many thanks to Rodders (crow) for coming to the rescue!

If anyone needs a replacement seat minus a lid, I now have one available.

One thing I did notice - and how can I put this delicately - the recessed area immediately to the rear of the bowl which is hidden and inaccessible when the seat and cover are in place is subject to, er, 'overspray' and may need a good cleaning periodically.

To do this you could just pull the whole assembly vertically to remove it but this might damage or loosen the push-in attachment of the pivots. An alternative method would be to grasp the ends of the two nylon hinge pins with pliers, bend them gently downwards to clear the stops and withdraw them to release seat and lid while leaving the pivots in place. Once the cleaning is done, the pins are simply pushed back into place until they click and lock.
