The AlKo jockey wheel that has the built in nose weight gauge has a detachable handle. Has anybody seen this feature on any other jockey wheel assemblies?

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, or, rather, if we mean the same thing, but I bought an Al-ko "manoeuvring handle" which clamps onto the jockey wheel's tube at a position of your choosing and which you use for, well, for manoeuvring!😃

If we are on the same track, they're readily available in caravan supplies shops for about ten quid, and are very useful for that last few inches of fine tuning when you try to mate hitch and towball.

The handle I am referring to is the winding handle.
In your attached pic of the manoeuvring handle you can see that the winding handle has been removed.
This is a feature of the AlKo jockey wheel with nose weight gauge.
I would like this feature on a basic jockey wheel.

Just a thought, hacksaw existing handle off, have 19mm nut welded to stub and 19mm socket welded to handle.

It was all a bit tongue in cheek, Tony, but it would be worth chatting to a local garage to see if it's feasible.

I was going to suggest that you fork out for the Alko kit until I saw the price.

I have actually got one but not at their price! I found it a bit too bouncy and very heavy but I do like the removable handle. When I have bikes mounted on my front towball they get in the way of the winder so the AlKo handle or something similar would be very useful.

Do you mean the winding handle?

If you already have one with a removable handle, could the two be cobbled together somehow to produce what you are looking for?

If I were you, I'd be taking both to a welder and asking for an opinion and a price.
