Also had a new pop up roof and the door realigned.
Feels like we've got a new caravan!

Yep, new pop top.
I was led to believe that a few of the early 2013 vans had their roofs stored incorrectly before manufacture causing them to become misshapen (bowed?).
The new one is a better looking fit and the inner skin/ceiling is now one piece whereas before it was 3 pieces. It is also a different finish with a pleasant textured effect.
Pete, I don't think the hinges were the problem in this case. The wood trim supplied to Hymer was of insufficient density to take the necessary screw and weight of the locker door. The profiles have all been removed and replaced with the better wood and additional brushed aluminium strip. The hinges are the same. I do agree that the earlier bifold hinges were a much better item though.
I am left with the impression that we ended up with something of a prototype as it was an early production (Feb 2013) with quite a few changes from the 2012 model. The list of faults was quite long!

Looks like a tidy job
Having said that I bet they wouldn't have had to have done it at all if they'd used the hinges they used to use.
Still, the money they save goes to a good cause.Greece.
.
The original hinges may have helped Pete, unfortunately they are not the culprit. It was a batch of furniture that was made with composite wood that was not dense enough to take the screws. It was on the 2013 models with the lighter wood colour.
Edit, looks like Tony wrote the same reply as me at the same time. ...
When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

Point taken, chaps. I didn't realise it was a wrong sort of wood issue. Having said that, those nice articulated hinges don't (can't) lever the screws sideways if the locker door is accidentally dropped past the vertical.
I still think it's penny-pinching, but there you go.
I'm done now

Blueyonder and I have had a similar problem with our Triton in respect of the cupboard hinges and have the same repair as Tony. This was just before we set of on our 4 month trip. The addition of the silver strip looks good, but I am afraid that it has not totally fixed the problem as screws on the hinges are still working lose! I am going to have to explore another solution. We continue to have problems with the hinges on the bathroom (if that is what you call it) door. AL have re aligned and put new hinges on 3 times and they are still bending at the slightest opportunity. AL say that the new vans (2015) have a completely different hinge that allows the door to open through 180 degrees. They (AL) are looking to see if they can be adapted to the older (2014) doors. We will see when we get back!

I have not been offered new hinges for our bathroom door but I did fit some leather retaining straps to stop the door opening past the 90°.

Tony, how did you know you had a defective roof? I ask because I swear ours is bowing at the back, the back corners appear lower than the middle. I am sure that AL love to find warranty work if they can and have had our van in recently, but you just don't know.
