crimpers and wire strippers £6.99

I clicked on the picture of the pliers expecting to get a much bigger image dripping in glorious high-definition detail.

Not so good, I went back to Aldi and they are essentially wire strippers
the crimper part does not allow enough leverage to do a proper job.
Best forgotten.
There are Hilka Ratchet Crimps on e-bay for under £12, much better.

I didn't like to say, but the non-ratchet pliers are only any good for the old-fashioned, non-insulated terminals. For the more modern, insulated ones you need a lot of force to crush the metal and plastic sufficient to make a secure connection.

These are the Draper 'Expert' (as if!) ones I have used with total success. From memory they were about £18 via eBay.
