Warped and shrunken trim above lockers on my 2010 Puck L

HI all. Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with shrunken, warped trim on their Puck L ( 2010), sitting just above the lockers, and if so, what can be done. It seems like the trim is no longer available. Has anyone replaced it with something else? Ideas and advice welcome!! Thank you.

I might be wrong, but it looks as if the corner infill sections (with their bits of trim) are misaligned rather than the dark trim having shrunk or warped per se.

Despite having rootled about in those corners in the past when fitting radio speakers to the 2008 230 we no longer have, I can't remember precisely how they are fixed other than it being from the inside.

If I were you the first thing I'd do is see whether they can be removed and realigned. It may well require a bit of jiggery-pokery in terms of packing the fixing points and the possible re-drilling of screw holes, but it's worth having a look.

It's also possible to rectify a misalignment of the locker doors themselves, and that's rather easier to do because the hinges and catches are easily accessible.

You need to aim to get the shut lines (the gaps around the doors and infill panels) to match and be as narrow and parallel as you can get them.

Whether or not it's worth the faff depends entirely on how irritating you find it and how comfortable you are with taking a few things to bits.

.

I agree with Pepe those infills are not squarely fitted.

Thanks for your comments. I agree about the poorly fitted units and I am hoping that Automotive Leisure will work some magic when I take the van back down to them for its first service during my ownership. I have notified them of the problem when I first got the van from them. The pictures probably don't show the 'trim' very well that I was trying to make the point about here ...... its the trim above the cupboards along the top, in a plastic type, light wood finish. Sorry to confuse you. Hope that makes more sense now.
Thanks.

Sorry Christine - I misunderstood. The strips between the ceiling and the locker tops do indeed look a bit wonky.

If the van is still within AL's warranty I think I'd be pressing the muzzle of a large calibre revolver into someone's temple and asking politely for replacements.

Me too. The second picture illustrates the problem as a definite curve can be seen.

I'd be more concerned about the corner infill section misalignment.

If AL say that the wobbly bits are 'normal' and are therefore unwilling to do anything about them, I'd be looking into sticking a strengthening piece of thin plywood or similar onto the reverse side with Evo Stik.

Yeah .... feel a bit disappointed with the workmanship I must say!!! If it was just the warping on the trim I think something maybe could have been done .... however it has shrunk as well .... and they say its no longer available. A bit poor of Hymer really!!! The van is only 5 years old, and I don't think it is as uncommon problem!!

I think I'd be looking into sticking a piece of thin plywood or similar up someone's arse.

When we were looking for a Puck L several years ago I noticed this problem on several vans we looked at and coincidentally it was at its worst in a 2010 model. We ended up buying a 2008 model. We have a little distortion in the trim in our Puck. I think it's just one of those things - the trim isn't ridged and is therefore prone to distort. I wouldn't worry about it.
