When you ask a question on the forum or post a request for advice, it is only common courtesy to thank the members who take the trouble to reply and offer assistance, so please do it. And if that is too much trouble, how difficult is it to click on the 'Like' button to at least show that you have read the response?
Without acknowledgement that their contributions are appreciated, respondents might well decide not to bother on future occasions.
This comment does not of course apply to everyone who uses the forum but it doesn't take much of a trawl through the 'Latest Posts' to bring up examples.

Feedback is always appreciated, was the proffered advice successful,
or not, if not what was the outcome and how was it resolved.

It might be quite nice, too, to see a bit of effort displayed on the part of some. Answers that arrive on a plate are never as appreciated as those you've gone out and worked for.

I am confused by this post. Who do you want to see effort from?
I apologise if I am being stupid but I just cannot understand what you mean.

No need to apologise! Thanks for asking.
I'm not about to name names, if that's what you mean by "Who …?". But in the same way that, as Aaron Calder says, there are some members who don't acknowledge the effort other contributors make to answer their questions, there are also those who ask questions whose answers are already treated extensively in previous threads, answers that a little bit of thought – of effort – would reveal in a few moments. I was guilty of it myself until I discovered the site's Search facility.

Thank you but I didn't mean who as in names but who as in what kind of person.
You are right about the search but I don't think it's unreasonable to put a query out there before searching especially if its from a new member.
The real point of Brian's post is, I think, a polite reminder to exercise good manners!
