Fitting smoke and CO monitors

I have a 2007 Triton 430 and was wondering the best place to fit a smoke and CO monitor. Can I fit a smoke detector to the underside of the pop top? Seems the most logical place. The CO monitor need to be lower but I'm not sure where that should go. Where do others fit them?

I also have a 430..........I tend to locate both of them by the front window as that's where I sit most
at night I put them on the bed by the rear window to be at head height.............my reasoning is they should be as near to your breathing apparatus (lungs) as possible
my smoking vaporizer sometimes sets one or other off so I open the front window a bit (if its warm enough) or put them on the sink cover at head height to where I sit at the front.
I don't fix them anywhere as they sit on the worktop by the cooker when I am at home to save having 2 sets of them.

Sounds like a good plan hob although I prefer a more permanent solution to reduce packing and unpacking chores.

Ok so position them to wake you while asleep ..........its my understanding that at room temp Co is heavier than air so head height or lower (laying down) ..............smoke alarm ..............well hot air rises so somewhere near the top.

My smoke detector and CO monitor were fitted by the dealer. The smoke detector is attached to the pop top roof and the CO monitor to the side of the wardrobe.

Alarms just measure the parts per million of what is in the atmosphere ......still better than the fags

Dug up from my days at a nuclear power plant .......................

Most smoke alarms emit alpha radiation .........which is a comparitivly large slow moving particle ..........if the detector fails to see these particles then something is blocking them so the alarm goes off.

The reasoning behind this is a stream of alpha particles is emitted from an alpha source to a receiver and if the receiver fails to see them something is blocking them.

If you open this type of alarm and see the radiation symbol inside please don't worry too much as they are harmless enough and if you need to dispose of them please place them in the electrical disposal bin at your local council waste disposal area.
