Hello Andy and welcome to Eribafolk.
It's always a bit difficult to guess what a privately advertised Eriba is worth and all we can do is wait for the many Familia 320 owners on here to have their say.The 320 is popular with new owners so is quite difficult to get hold of.

It's normally assumed that a private sale is about £1500 cheaper than a dealer's prices and using Automotive Leisure as a guessing stick, they've currently got an 06 model with mover on sale for £12,499 (no awning).

Let's see what others think.

I bought my 320GT from Eriba shop two months ago and am as happy as can be with it. I looked for several months and compared prices on the two dealer sites Hob listed as well as http://www.eribacaravansales.co.uk/ plus ebay, Gumtree and Preloved at least twice a week. Eriba's hold their value well which can be painful when purchasing your first!

As for the one you have been offered:
What is the general condition?
When was it last serviced and importantly last gas appliance inspection?
How old are the tyres, it may possibly have it's originals but they will need changing due to age not wear?
What make and condition is the awning, it could be older than the van if bought second hand?
Any desirable extras such as hot water, external water supply, electric heating element in the gas fire?
Does it come with a wheel and hitch lock which will almost certainly be needed for insurance?

Hope this is helpful, good luck and welcome

Jason

Even the most casual glance at AL's stock list will show that second-hand Eriba prices are rising faster than the vans are depreciating.

In recent weeks I have seen an identical 2003 Triton not as well-equipped as ours priced at £1,000 more than we paid four years ago.

At the moment they have two vans older than ours that are priced at very nearly what we paid.

I think that Roger's estimate of approximately £1,500 below AL's prices for a 'sale as seen and approved' private purchase won't be too far off the mark.

Hi jason
Well its 2008 with awning. Serviiced may 15 new tyres . Has hitch lock motor mover. Great condition. So told ans looks like it in pics. They buy 11500 1yr ago. Find it too small. Dealer offered 9k as trade in. They want 11k for it. But thats what id pay with a guarantee for a dealer? I just wondered whatcwd b releastic to start the bargoning at. Im lost.

Have you looked here?

2003 - £11,500; 2005 - £12,500; 2006 - £12,500

If I were the seller, my haggle room would be very limited. I'd suggest that for a 2008 van, £11,000 is a very fair price and if you don't snap it up someone else will.

Having a mover fitted to one without one can cost £800 ~ £1000 ...........something to consider when comparing prices. Also availability eribas are not that easy to find in the UK so sellers have the advantage of knowing it should sell for a good price.

More like £1300 now, Nev.

As Roger said somewhere recently, Eribas also need additional special brackets.

I was going by the prices Dom Fox gave me earlier this year when I was at his workshop.

As Aaron states, second hand prices are rising with new prices, so the dealer offering 9k will advertise for at least 11.5k. If you're prepared to haggle, anything below 11k and you've done well. They don't come up very often, so if you miss this one for the sake of a couple hundred quid you may spend several months searching instead of relaxing away from home in the worlds best small caravan!
