Hi all I am looking at going solar. I know little about it but do know I need a leisure battery. Where do you people fix them in the caravan. Mine is a 1987 familia. I'm thinking under the sink or in the space in front of the table at the towbar end of the eriba. Was hoping to get it sorted this week but Portugal bound next so I guess it will wait. Also any ideas on size of systems work best 9nly need it for lights and mobile charging really. Thanks John

My battery on my Familia 320 is on the right hand side under the seat near the cupboard as you look down from the door, ideally you need a heavy weight like that as close to the axal as possible.

I agree most are located under a seat by a wheel arch to set the weight over or as near as possible to the axle.

They are most often located near the EHU socket and over the axle,
do you not have an existing BIP unit or similar charger installed?
Depending on type you may have to vent the battery through the floor.
Remember you are dealing with something around the 20kg. mark,
so it must have a solid base and retaining strap, and of course you
need to be able to service it easily (again dependent.on type)

Thanks for the responses sorry for my tardy response but I don't Internet very often. I hope I have found a solution for us its a hubi2k which is a self contained solar panel regulator and battey. It provides up to 7 hours light and 3 phone charges per solar charge. Will let you know how we get on in Portugal in a couple of weeks assuming my kids get there act together and forward it in time thanks
