My previous van had a red warning lamp above the door inside, which was illuminated when the awning light switch had power to it. Couldn't go to bed and ignore that!

Modern Eribas should turn off the 12 volt supply to all the interior lights and the awning light when the car is connected. The 2015 Eribas now have a twin switch in the van for the awning awning light, one is for a PIR sensor which avoids you inadvertently leaving it switch on, and the other one allows you to physically switch it on and inadvertently leave it on over night.....
