Hello Eribafolks
Can any of you good people help with their experiences of Duvalay mattress toppers?
Phil & I are consider getting a pair of single mattress toppers for Marmite to aid restful sleep when the red stuff isn't working.
So have you got one/some? 2.5cm or 5cm? Where do you store them during the day if the bed is not left made up.
I've worked out that two of the thinner single toppers will just about fit in the nearside forward bed locker but I cannot figure out where the thicker ones would go except back in the car
I've posed this question in a slightly less jolly vein on the other forum, please don't think you have to reply on both
All advice/comments welcome
Thanks in advance
Denise & Phil

We have the full monty Duvalays, memory foam topper and quilt all in one. They're fantastic - but huge. In the 430 layout, one rolled Duvalay goes in the offside rear locker during the day, while the other goes in the nearside front one. That is, when we don't leave the bed made up during the day.

We have the mattress topper and to be honest we wouldn't want to be without it, just soooo comfy. On the other hand, we have 2 Duvalays in the Nova and although the idea is good we now wish we had just bought toppers instead and used our own quilts. Hope this helps. Ellen

Hi Denise and Phil.
To overcome the storage problem we decided to fit memory foam into the seats and reupholster them. See comments under photo:- g43p537-Randa-s-Pad.html#com211

We had a double made for our T2 VW years bcak and kept it as a bed for the anklebiters when they stayed with us,
We cut it in half, Carole stiched the previous cover (halved too) and we roll them and store them under the seat, together with 2 single duvets. Works a treat and much easier for us to handle single handed.

Hello Randa,
Thanks for the input we're not quite ready to re-upholster Marmite with having breadsnappers with us in the early days we've always had throws on the seats so they are still as good as new(the seats that is not the breadsnappers). We are aiming for two singles in preparation for the days when we can no longer climb over one another in the night. Marmite has a sizeable front dinette which makes up into a 3' single or another double so we will each have a comfy bed.

Hi Denise. We have the mattress topper on our bed in doo-dah and it's the middle price range but I can't remember the depth of it. As we have a fixed bed the topper stays in place so no need for storage. The Duvalays we use in our Hymer Nova, we use the seats as single beds and so during the day the Duvalays get rolled up and stored under the seats. Our mattress topper feels more comfy than the Duvalays, just our thoughts. Ellen. (retired rain goddess)

Thank you Ellen,
Looks like two thin ones are the way to go, I hate to have things cluttering up inside Marmite nor do I fancy the idea of having to store things in the car, we try to keep things simple so that we have the maximum amount of space in the van. We have relented on the dog in van issue now that we have only one pooch so the carpet has gone into the garage, throws are on the seats (we've not relented on the dog on the furniture issue) we've just had three weeks away in Scotland and the North East and tomorrow I'm going to go through the entire van contents to de-clutter a bit more.
Hope to see you soon

We bought 5cm,two singles for our Troll 530gt at the NEC show last Oct/Nov.We also bought zipped sheets. Make the bed super comfy ,however when rolled into the bags they won't fit in under bed lockers,we tend to keep the bed made up during the day, and sit at the front or outside.

We use a memory foam topper in our Familia 320, we started getting aching hips and the memory foam topper stopped all the hip pain. When we have the awning up we leave the bed made up, if we have no awning the memory foam topper and the bedding is rolled up under the table.
We got our topper from B&M stores

we have two of the single sleeping bag/topper versions which we then put a sheet inside etc. We love them but they are expensive, managed to get a discount at one of the NEC shows which helped...

I looked at them when the info came up ............ to me they looked very over priced so I bought a matching pair of sleeping bags to make a big single (matching pair means they zip together easily) and from the local factory shop a 25mm (1 inch )topper, pleased with the result, but that's just my opinion
