And so to bed...

Haven't we been lucky so far with the September/October weather?

We've taken full advantage of it since we arrived back earlier this month and have leisurely prepared the Eriba for winter.

We've fitted some new interior lighting and replaced a side light bulb.
Mrs R has scrubbed out and vacuumed the inside.
She has also stripped out the upholstery and washed and dried it all before re-fitting it.
She has silver painted the 4 corner steadies. (she's nearer the ground than me)
The roof has been polished twice and I've washed the whole of the van using a car wash/polish solution bought from the Range. It's otherwise difficult to polish a dimpled surface but this stuff seems to do the trick.
As the van stands on grass I've parked the wheels on 2 large squares of old 16mm polycarbonate and have also sat the wheels in plastic cradles.
I've cut our old awning skirt into 4 and have slotted them into the bottom channel over the corner steadies to protect them from the weather.

Now to fit the Protec cover. We were a little worried about this as the Protec towhitch cover which we use all the time is starting to rot. The wheel covers are OK though.
Upon laying the cover out on the grass we discovered 2 large holes in it each about 6" dia. Not rot though. It looks as though some bl**dy mouse has got into the garage and has been feasting on our cover for the past 7 months Where's that shotgun?
So now we've got a smart looking cover with 2 big gaffa tape repairs on it.

If you haven't got any spare cover material, I'd use the wheel covers or the hitch cover to provide a couple of repair patches and Evostick them in place over the holes.

Hitch covers are cheap enough to replace and you could use a couple of bits of ply over the wheels. I don't bother.

We stopped putting our van away for the winter about ten years ago. We used to like the smug feeling you got in early Spring when you took the cover off and she still looked as pretty as she did when you put it on in the Autumn.

We caravan almost every month of the year these days - still have 3 trips to do before Christmas!!
