Hi there! I'm a newcomer. I am a 1993 Eriba Puck and somehow my human, Pat, managed to throw my door onto the ground! This violent action bent one hinge and has cracked the other!! And she's under 5'!! She's received the new ones from Jandi and wonders if anyone has any advice?

Hi Brian Puck and welcome to Eribafolk. I don't know what Pat, your 5' human thinks she's doing? She obviously doesn't know her own strength. If I were you I'd report her immediately to the RSPCE. That'll teach her

Regarding how to fix the new hinges, there's bound to be someone on here who'll be able to offer some advice although you're very brave if you're going to entrust Pat with the fix

By the way, there's currently a Puck door for a 1988-1994 Puck on Ebay Werbung: Puck Door. Unfortunately it won't fit Linda's Pan Door for Eriba Familia 1967

I've had a quick search on this forum Pat and the only thing I can find regarding refitting BrianPuck's hinges is the following thread Warped entrance door

I'm sure someone on here has more knowledge on how to proceed.

It might be useful to know that door hinges are in fact 2 half hinges allowing the door just to be lifted off.

Depending on which parts are damaged you may not need to change all the bits.

Funnily enough, I finally got around to following Randa's advise regarding the bending back to shape of our entrance door today. Stuff having got in the way as it does.

I must admit a degree of trepidation as I lent on it but I have to say it worked like a charm. Thus, you should have no problem reshaping the door as required following Pats violent outburst.

Many thanks for the advice Roger.

I just like to add. If you take off the hinges attached to the wall of the van, when you put them back put a bead of silicone or some plumbers mate before fixing. I forgot and water poured in everytime it rained.

I'm pretty sure when I replaced our old white with new red herzim strip I had to removd the hinges, that was on a 2004 Troll, easy enough job as I recall I used a socket, and I had some mastic (the proper ond but can't remember the number?) I'm 90% sure but as we've sold the van can't look! And my harc drive is elsewhere so cannot pull up pics, sorry

Edited to add this. Just found the photo's of our old van on here in the gallery, and yes I did remove the hinges, from memory 3 bolts in a triangle arrangment, just don't overtigten them especially at first, as I reckon you'll be lucky to get the door "hung" straight first time

Likes to wax and have a smooth finish! 😎

Than you everyone for your various words of help. Pat has had another look at the hinges and the top one could probably be 'eased' (that is if she knows what 'easing' is)up a bit, but the bottom one is cracked. The new hinges have arrived form Jandi and come in 2 bits. The part that attached to Brian's body (!)... now that's a scary thought... should be easy enough to replace but the inner section of the door (does it remind anyone else of plane door?) has to come out. Jean (at Jandi) has said if there are problems... Pat can chat to Sandy and he will help.

Watch this space.... it may take several months!!!!

Good luck
Jandi sent us a replacement damper ( brilliant service as usual) which Neil has fitted after much spitting and cursing. The problem which is still ongoing is he didn't really look when he took it all to bits and is now trying to work out how the handbrake goes back. I remember "crow" saying always take photos before starting work, wish we had remembered to do that!!
