Warped entrance door
Warped entrance door

Just back from a shake down trip to the C&CC Canterbury site, first time we have used one. Pleasantly surprised, but it is quiet at the moment.
Anyway, the main problem encountered was discovering that our main door had warped along the bottom edge leaving a gap of about 1/2" at the opening end.
Had a quick look around the forum, but have not been able to find anyone else with this problem. Given the shape of the door, I am not sure if it can be bent back into shape. Don't particularly want to fit additional locks such as the Fiamma Safe Door to seal it when not in use but may have too.
Shudder to think what a new door would cost.
Any suggestions or experience of this?

Just be careful, the door when open can easily come off the retainers, the door is not captive, so can be lifted off easily when open, I tweaked ours a while ago after I took it off to renew the herzim strip and nearly lost it! otherwise easily done as mentioned above

Do you think someone's had a go at breaking in Charlie? It seems strange that it's happened recently unless:-
a) it's been forced
b) The wind's caught it.
As the two posters above have suggested, I've read of Eriba doors being taken off and reshaped using a bit of gentle persuasion.

Thanks for the advice gents, I will give gentle persuasion a go.
Ribski, I had a look at adjusting things but could not see any give in the fixings that would alter the bottom edges fit.
Like you Roger, I wondered about someone have a lever at the door, she's kept on a farm in a poly tunnel and so reasonalby secure but there was no sign of any damage to the door caused by a screwdriver or wedge, its just bent.
Thank you all once again

We had this problem on a previous Eriba and it was fixed by subtle bending!
We now have the same issue on our Troll and I will be asking AL to do something similar. It doesn't stop the door shutting but the bottom edge is not fully inside the frame.

On reading the posts in this thread regarding 'warped doors' I thought that I would have a look at the door on my brand new Troll.....
Bearing in mind that I have not even used the van yet it was more out of curiosity....
Even on mine, the bottom edge of the door does not appear to fit neatly within the frame, with the rubber surround standing proud of the frame and not making a proper seal ......
Could it be that there is a problem with the design/manufacture of the doors generally ?

My door slammed back on its stop and bent out of shape.
If you hold the door around the lock area with your right hand
and gently pull the top then the bottom of the door. Don't try to
close up the gaps in one go, take your time.

We noticed that the door on our 2012 Troll was not fitting correctly, and took some advice to bend it a bit in-situ. This made a bit of difference but it was still not exactly right.
We then noticed that when we were on a site and had the van perfectly flat and level the door fitted perfectly. Now we know this and realise that our drive at home is not spot on, we are living reasonably happily with the problem.

Interesting observation Keith & Sue.....
My Troll is parked up on a drive that is not level....
Are we suggesting that there is some flex in the caravan structure somewhere that could be causing this..... Chassis...Doorframe...etc?..

I would have thought that with the construction that there would probably be some flex, especially when towing and on unleavened standings. Being aluminium it's and the amount of panels it's going to be difficult to keep it totally rigid.

With that in mind Taffy I will just check mine again when I use the van in a few weeks time and level up the van on site....although I'm surprised that there would be that amount of flex....will be interesting to see if all is well when set up level....
