Hi Morley, sorry to hear of about your eriba, I can't imagine being in that position, it must be awful to have your pride and joy crushed. And that you are now thinking of a camper van. If it was us we would give that a lot of thought, maybe even hire one to try. We had a autosleeper Duetto which was great as a day van or the odd night away but we found it a challenge for any longer, and so we went to an eriba which we love. Hope which ever way you go, you soon get back to traveling.

Really sad about the flood Morley.
Interesting about your interest in the campervan idea 'cos for many of us it was the opposite journey. From campervan or motorhomer to Eriba.

Awww, so sorry to hear that. What a shame :-(

We live on the banks of the Irwell & had very short notice of a flood alert. We had to make the awful decision to either leave Millie there at the risk address (my daughter's back yard), or move it outside my house on the road-side which would have possibly left it uninsured as it isn't the risk address. We chose to leave it there as was dark, torrential rain & there were a lot of people evacuating their houses so was bedlam. What a dilemma though!!

Luckily the flood didn't happen, but I was worried all night about her.

So sorry to hear about your loss.

We have gone from a VW California (too much scrabbling about at floor level and leaving a site having to pack stuff away in the van} and an Autosleeper Stanley motorhome. So many electronic devices to sort hot water temperature, timed heating and everything but the kitchen sink to work out out on various digital panels. Not so convenient if you wish to leave the site for any reason. We opted for the Eriba 540 which has permanent beds and found it was what we should have bought in the first place. Well for us anyway. Whichever route you take we hope you have no further problems of the magnitude you have suffered.

Have a good 2016

This is interesting that you prefer the Eriba and yes we do plan on hiring one first as there are 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children.

Thank you :)

Out of interest did you have one of the newer t5 California's or a t4. I've had a look online and like the look of a t4 WESTFALIA Exclusive although the that might change and we may go back to an Eriba once we have seen one in real life. I don't think the pop top VW would be for us and I'm not keen on the lack of bathroom facilities after being spoilt in the Eriba.

We have the Westfalia joker which has the shower and electric toilet with folding doors ( full height ) lots of luxuries , hot water , two radiators, and the bedding stays on the bed up stairs. Can stand upright while making tea while wife stays in bed. This is based on the long wheelbase. Had a California but couldn't cope with moving everything twice and the cold bedroom upstairs. Having a tow bar fitted soon so we can take our Troll 540 GT . Can give more info but don't wish to bore anyone not interested. Paul .

Ah ok, so yours is the newer WESTFALIA but similar to the hard top Exclusive t4 in terms of layout I believe. I too like the long wheelbase for that little extra space which makes a big difference to comfort levels. I must tell my husband about the facility to make tea too! At this stage we want to keep our daily drives hence the reason for an older but not too old VW, not interested in pushing a van around .........

Ah, I see, the only down side of an older Westy is particularly the joker is they are nearly all left hand drive. We plan to use Westy abroad where I think it's much better than towing but use the troll in the UK. I can tow with our old Merc if things don't work to plan. Paul.
