. While at Lowdhams Notts yesterday I come across the Isabella - Shadow touring sun canopy. Looked very strong and light and was advised the 3 metre was best for my Troll 540. Price is £139.00 plus £3.50 postage direct from Isabella, Does anyone have one or recommends a better one ? Thanks in anticipation . Paul.

Hello Paul,
I have the Shadow 240 for my Familia 310. They are really good and simple to erect.

I also have one for my Familia 320,it's a great piece of kit ,well made and very easy to put up and down.I use mine for short breaks instead of the porch awning.

Hi Paul, this is one of the best pieces of kit we've got. It is sturdy and strong even in very heavy wind and torrential rain...we usually drop the poles in the rain to allow the water to run off. We also bought bespoke wind proof netting for the sides and front and use is when touring all the time. We only use the awning if we are staying 4 nights or more. Buy it you'll not regret it

Thank you all for your views, I shall get one. Just can't wait for weather to improve to try van and awning out. Christmas outing was cancelled at last minute when I tore muscle in my back, all hitched up and ready to go. Now all empty and water drained and waiting to get fit for the big day again. Paul.

Hi Paul.

I've just noticed that Poptop320 (John) has a 2400mm Shadow for his Familia. Therefore the perfect fit for a Troll should be 3400mm (not 3000mm). Perhaps you'd better measure your van and I'm wondering if a 3500mm might be a better fit if they're only sold in 500mm increments.
Just a thought

They have a Troll 540 at Lowdhams which I and the sales assistant measured and he said the 3500 would not be suitable because the awning rail goes horizontal around the corners instead of going down on other caravans and would pull out when under tension and although the 3 metre would be a bit short it would stay secure. Hope this makes sense. Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul. Yes I can see your argument as long as you're happy with the sun shade being short. If our memory serves, the modified Coleman shade that we made has a awning bead length of about 3400mm which just takes it up to the curves of the awning rail.

Zitat
Obelink Universal Canopy, Ten Cate

We didn't realise until we looked it up that Ten Cate refers to the company and not the type of fabric. http://www.tencate.com/emea/outdoor-fabr...gs/default.aspx

Does anyone have any information on rival companies? We're on the look out for some good quality but lightweight fly sheet fabric.
