Last night I tried to view a film about Hurricane Higgins the snooker player. It was in IPlayer. I couldn't enjoy it as the sound recording was so poor.
Having tried to view War and Peace and also Silent Witness, the same thing happens, either on IPlayer, recording or direct transmission.

Tried them Nev and no better, I can hear sports, chat shows, news etc but films and videos are just badly recorded and it's not just me moaning

I have just watched it too on iPlayer. Volume is fine but all the speech has a scrambled effect.
What I did notice and this must be sound recording of actual dialogue waswhile Clarissa was speaking on the phone to Jack and the scene switched back and forth from her to him, the sound if her telephone voice was clearer. Also when she was watching a TV the sound coming from that was clearer.
What's going on?
I honestly belive it's not my hearing, but who the hell can I go to. The beeb will not take any notice unless others moan about it.

Sorry that you are having trouble like this Derek.
Is there anybody near you that could let you see the difference HD makes? The sound quality is significantly better than the standard definition.

Thanks Tony and Dave. The set is quite new Sony Bravia and is fine otherwise.

I placed an official complaint with the BBC last night and got a nice reply that it will be circualted (lost) in their system. I expect a proper reply of sorst in about 2 weeks.
