I'm new......Had the Triton 420 one week ago today. Now safely stored in approved facility. Never been caravanning before, looking forward to first trip out. We will probably stay local for the first expedition, practice with the gas, try a bit of reversing and attempting the awning. Please come and say hello, especially if I look confused.

Hello Colin

Have a tootle down to the local supermarket car park late on a Sunday afternoon and have a go at reversing there. Lots of space and lots of parallel white lines to help your aim.

You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

There's a checklist of things to check before setting off in the first post of this thread here that might help. The alternative is just to wing it with a 50:50 mixture of common sense and bravery. The advantage of doing it that way is that you'll drop most of your clangers in one go and get them over and done with.

And as for practising with the gas, what's the worst that can happen?

Actually...

.

Thinking that Clumber Park in Notts could be a safe bet, not too far away and flat.

I was new to towing and my first Eriba last year. Was concerned about towing but it really was a dream Happy Travels and enjoy your first outing.

Hello and welcome - we're pretty new ourselves to here - have to say they're a very welcoming bunch !!

With regard to reversing, if all else fails, just unhitch and do it manually, we now cheat as we've got a mover attached but to be honest it's really a 'big boy's toy', hubby loves using it, for some reason I've not been had a chance to use it though he's quite happy for me to deal with the bog when on site !!!

And how long will it be before you're yelling - Eriba, Eriba - when you spot another one on the road - we have competitions when we're travelling to see who can score the most but they must the verified by another person (doesn't help when I fall asleep which in the car !!).

Have fun but then we know you will
