The Passport photograph requirements seem to have been drawn up by a committee of people just wanting to make life difficult for us.
Is it still true that you have to remove your spectacles?

Mrs eribaMotters works on Post Office counters and deals with passport applications.
You only need the photograph signing on a renewal if you have changed significantly from your old photo. So if you are lucky enough to look a lot younger than you used to be, then you are unlucky in needing somebody to vouch for you.
One of the requirements for "booth type" photos has been brought in as these cannot be digitally altered by the applicant. Another is the type of paper.

The whole system is being tightened up on as false/dodgy applications are a significant problem.

Tesco's carpark was absolutely crammed this morning but we needed to pop in there for a few bits and pieces for Xmas. As far as we could see there was only one parking space available and that was only 3/4 available as a driver had decided to park diagonally across part of it. Yes, the usual story and the usual make of car

I took great delight in blocking it in and waiting for the culprit's return. Unfortunately it didn't happen.

Where can I get a batch of really big, really sticky labels that I can write a gentle reminder about parking etiquette on, that I can leave for them?

Happy Christmas

Randa

With regard to the lightbulb saga, I would go to a proper electrical dealer where pro electricians get their supplies.
They seem very helpful if you come clean and explain what you're after they seem reasonably keen enough to keep you as a customer, coming back for more rather than rip you off. Our local one has a Wickes right opposite and prices were very similar but you get what you want, they even plugged in some light bulbs for me to show how bright they were, and you just ask for what you want rather than wandering around looking for what you're not sure about, and then finding that either they don't have any stock or the box is empty.
There that's my rant for the day!
We have also lost our local B&Q, partly I believe purely because a lot of the stock was pilfered and nobody about to ask.

Write on the screen with a wax crayon, almost impossible to completely remove.

Back to light bulbs ( yeah, I know bulbs annoys electricians) I also bought job lots of incandescent lamps ranging from 40W to 100W, bayonet and screw.

My energy supplier is very happy ;)

As Eribanaut says, go online and search for industrial or heavy duty bulbs as they haven't been banned by the EU.
