I have done a search but I can't find a link. My kitchen window blind is difficult to get to go back up again. Any suggestions?

You could try spraying the side channels with a silicone lubricant.

I'm pretty sure that you can increase the spring tension on the blind retractors but as I've not yet had to do that someone else may be able to help.

Also, it's good practice not to leave the blinds down for long periods as this will weaken the springs and make the blinds slow to retract. That's one of the reasons why people keep their net curtains drawn while the van is in storage, to minimise the effect of sunlight on upholstery and fabrics.

I did have a similar problem some time ago - it seems that the plastic 'dowel' which holds the end of the blind into the the slot in the roller tube can slide outwards and make the blind catch on the left or right sides - often accompanied by a 'clicking' sound as you pull the blinds up or down !

If this is the case, you need to remove the side runners from the window and trim the excess dowel off the ends where blind slots into the roller tube,(it is like thick nylon wire), no point in trying to push it back in 'cause it'll only happen again !

Hope this helps, sorry if it's not made very clear, not easy to explain without pictures !

If however this is not the problem you'll need to try re-tensioning the roller spring.

Thanks. How do I get to the entrails of the blinds? At the window at the back there are long strings sticking out. PerhapsnI can get them sorted too?

My blind looks like the - remove the two bottom screws and lit out from the top. Your blinds may not be the same ! It is possible that the strings you've seen are the cause of the problem !

Good luck :)
