Water tank removal

Hi Folks, we are having a new Eriba 540 delivered hopefully at the end of March from Lowdhams, Notts, it will have a boiler, shower and onboard tank installed, which we did not really want ,it was a pre ordered Van for the new Lowdhams outlet. The alternatives were to keep our 2008 Troll550 and wait until October for a new batch of 540s with the exact spec we want, or to bite on the bullet and have the van with the tank etc installed. As our 550 was in Lowdhams workshop for crash damage repair it made sense to trade it in when the repair was complete, also we didn't have to mess about with trying to sell the 550 privately. After about 8 unsuccessful attempts at getting the van made without the tank we said we would have it but only if Lowdams payed for all of the water tank, heater and shower installation, they agreed to do this. We have decided to try out the new Eriba this season with the tank installed and see if we can cope with the loss of storage space, as we are already giving up the huge area under the 550s fixed bed., in place of the more practical and comfortable single beds / lounge layout. It doesn't look like rocket science to remove the tank and replace it with an external Aqua roll, but my only concern is if the water inlet housing at present is larger than a replacement Ultraflow housing how would I be able to fit it neatly? Many Thanks in advance, Brian.

I think you can download the template for the ultraflow fitting from the Truma website so that you could compare the sizes.

Our new to us 420 has the shower tap in the washroom. I have said it's an impossibility but Neil has seen it as a challenge and is determined to have a shower when we get the van. As he is over 6' it will be interesting to watch. Thinking of selling tickets

The shower tap will pass through the washroom window so maybe a windbreak arrangement outside for privacy could work.
Actually we have friends with an older 420 who carry a large garden trug (plastic bucket) which they stand in in the washroom for hose downs.

I'd be tempted to leave the water inlet in place despite it not being needed, I would'nt want to mess up a new van with the faff of fixing or trying to an alternative to fit in it's place. As for showering I've said before that I have just passed the extending sink tap head out of the window if we camped "wild" but that was mostly in the Burstner, I did it myself in the Eriba very early on when Mrs Agger was looking after a member of her family and did'nt want to come with me. I'd never shower in an Eriba as I don't personly think they are made for it despite having a shower compartment!

I thought about a solution to this very thing last Spring. And I found one. Or at least a possible one.

If you were to put one of these things right outside the bathroom window, you could poke the shower tap in through the little flap at the back and use it as a shower enclosure.

Maybe.

"Shower in an Eriba" That's exactly what I said to the salesman, more than once.
