image.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)Have just had our 1st weekend away in our new (1987) Eriba Eric. I have done a lot of work bringing the gas, 240v and 12v upto spec, but the biggest job was replacing the front twin seat with a fixed bed for our 20 month old to grow into!
We started by carefully removing all the original wood work, cushions and questionable electrics. We decided to store the original parts incase we want to covert it back to original spec, but may end up selling them.

I found that the ikea slatted bed bases are very light but strong, and with a healthy bit of woodwork, I shapped one to fit in the nose of the van. I had an old unused single sprung ikea mattress, which after taking apart and removing the excess springs, I wired back together using wire rope and clamps. Then it came to mounting the base onto something.

I located the upright frame of the van using a stud/wire detector and fifties a couple of triangle bits of 18mm ply to granger the weight into the frame and the floor. Along the front edge I made a cupped front and truer to match the door style with the rest of the doors in the van.

The only thing left to do is stain the new ply to match the existing colour!

Oh and had to remove the table rail and shelf... Jaggedy edges and toddlers.... Bit of playing with the router and I covered the hole!
