Side Marker Light Not Working
Side Marker Light Not Working

Have been told it won't be possible to repair the faulty side marker light on my Puck as it would entail cutting into and opening up the inside wall to reach the wiring. Sounds a bit extreme to me. Any ideas?

on the later eriba ones there are 2 screws to take outside plastic cover off.
some lights had a little cut out to poke a screw driver in to ease cover off, although age may make the cover brittle,
once came across a lense that twisted to be removed, speaking generically not always eriba
perhaps a photo may help of the light unit to give better advice

The outer plastic cover is held on with a couple of screws, so no problem taking it off. I was told there is probably a fault with the wiring, but they say they can't access it to check as the wiring appears to be built into the wall. Is this correct or is there a way to check wiring without digging through the internal wall?

the other end of the wires are normally in a junction box ours is in the little underseat locker at back if that helps???, (ours is a troll so there may be differences)
before going to another junction box under floor to join the towing electric cable,
this is normally the under floor junction box that causes the wiring to go green erode which causes the lighting issues
to physically check yes your right the wires are in wall, if on nearside passenger side of eriba a wire actually pops out of wall in what is our front seat locker in front of loo our eriba is a 2003 troll 540 layout
, could use a multi metre to check if power going through,
or make a tester from wire a bulb holder and bulb , afraid someone else will have to explain the multi metre check more, struggling with brain fog
normally if one light goes out its a bulb, or connectors eroded come loose
if its a wire that shorting the opposite back light goes out and fuses blow in car
try the other side bulb in light and do a wiggle test of connectors first just incase.
I would also wiggle the tow electrics plug when attached to car and check vehicle is powering
and check the junction box underneath floor
all before removing wall panel.
but that's just me.
hope you do not think breathing in the eggs thing
hope it makes sense
P
thinking more if was my eriba and all other checks had been done
would probably find the end of faulty wire possibly at junction box,and attach a new cable wire to it pulling up through wall, mainly because it may save many hours of dismantling, and would follow the track of original wire..
then again this may not work if eriba hymer has added security clips to wiring!!!

"hope you do not think breathing in the eggs thing" .... Eh ???
Thanks for the help. I had the towing electrics on the car checked and they are fine. All the Puck's electrics were checked when it was serviced last week, and that's when they discovered the fault with light. They said it was the wiring but they couldn't get to it without dismantling the wall. Maybe they didn't realise which junction box the light's wiring goes to. I'll give the bulb etc a wiggle next time it's hooked up, but if that doesn't work I'll need to find someone to look at the junction box who knows what they're doing. I don't like playing with electrics. Good plan to pull through cable if it needs to be replaced, but h
opefully it won't come to that.

On my 1997 pan, one of the cables for the side light was loose in the junction box, requires laying on the floor following it back.. Will get around to getting rid of the chocblocks and replacing with spade connectors when it's warmer on the concrete!!
