Replacement awning rail, 2005 , Eriba Puck L 230 GT

Hi folks. Rob M here. The rail on my Puck has apparently been 'widened' to take a Soplair sun canopy so that, when I run my new Walker awning through it, it falls off. Tried a length of 'figure of eight' plastic, but awning too heavy and again pulls of. Needs a new rail. I have bought a pack of Leisurewize 3x 1.2 m awning rail to cut to size but original rail is held by 'pop' rivets and pack is all wee screws. SO, before I have to start drilling holes

Does anyone know if I can purchase a new Eriba rail? If so, where.? I think the length Is 2.5m

Grateful for any advice. With thanks.

Rob M

Would suggest you contact Jandi in Scotland. They will supply I'm sure

Might it be easier to change the stuff on the awning? If it's the 5mm, you could change it for 7.5? Or just add another one.

Thanks for all suggestions. Decided to take the rail off by drilling out the 'pop' rivets and discovered it was painted aluminium and not brittle plastic SO.....
Fed the rail through a big vice and 'crushed' it right along it's length until it took the 7mm awning runner. Sorted (except that when I put in some new pop rivets...they weren't long enough....and the rail came off.)

that is irritating after finding a solution to the problem,
was surprised to learn the rail was secured by pop rivets, thought would be screwed,

Hi Pop540.

I thought screws as well but when I took off the long white plastic beading on the rail, lo and behold, pop rivets. I realise I have to be careful as I see the drilled holes are 'splintering' a bit when the new rivets came away as I presume the pop up roof is fibre glass.

wonder if the rivets were made stronger considering the stresses of the awning.
gelcoat then fibre glassed

the rivets need to pass through railing, underlay seal, fibre roof, then alloy sheet, before finally seating in metal frame that's a lot of hand work

good luck
