New Eriba Owner - Warranty Issues

Hi Just Joined !

Sorry if this is the wrong page to post this on?

I wonder if anyone can help? We have a new Eriba Troll 530 and cannot lock the door properly, the lock itself works fine it does not engage with the keep when it is closed. Our nearest dealer is in Telford but they are extremely unresponsive, we have sent pictures and a video of the problem and today after 2 weeks I finally was put through to someone in warranties who have said they will send the email to Hymer.

My question is......does Hymer not have anybody that will visit and take a look? We are reluctant to travel 120miles round trip to get it looked at, and it may mean we have to travel backwards and forwards.

Automotive Leisure who we purchased from are happy to pay any costs associated we just cant seem to get anyone to acknowledge the problem. Also I am worried about the insurance being negated if the door wont lock properly.

We are new to touring so any advice would be greatly received. We have fondly named our little Eriba, 'Eric'.

Many thanks

Have you asked Automotive Leisure if they are prepared to pay for a mobile servicing geezer from either the MCEA or the Approved Workshops Scheme to come to you, diagnose and rectify the problem?

If they are - and both organisations are nationally accredited and/or club affiliated - then I reckon I'd look for the nearest engineer to you on their respective websites and get on the blower to see if he is equally amenable.

In principle there's no reason why they shouldn't do it.

Thank you so much, they did say they didn't mind how we had it fixed but I was worried about the warranty. I will confirm it with them, the Telford dealer when I asked just said they didn't know of anyone, I cant believe they didn't give me this advice.

Any authorised Eriba Dealer should as part of their contract with Hymer take on warranty work no matter which initial UK Dealer sold the van.
It would be different had the van been purchased outside the UK.

David is correct,I purchased my 2012 Eriba from A/L and I had the warranty work carried out by Lowdhams in Huddersfield. I had the work carried out when I took it for its first service as I didn't want to go backwards and forwards either. I am not sure how you would go on with a mobile technician as A/L will have to submit the warranty claim to Hymer to recoup the money. Hymer will also not allow any unauthorised Hymer engineers to carry out an annual service on their vans whilst it is under its warranty as it will not be valid when making a claim.

I'm sure that's right John, but ultimately all that matters is that Angel's van is returned to a fully functioning condition with the absolute minimum of inconvenience.

If AL sanction the repairs being done that way it's up to them to sort out the ensuing paperwork, not the customer.

Thank you for all your help. I have now spoken with Automotive Leisure who have authorised an MCEA and Approved Workshop engineer to do the work. They will kindly reimburse me as long as I have an invoice and a picture of the completed work. The engineer is coming out this afternoon. I wouldn't have got this far without the advice I have received.

Shouldn't that be "outside the EU" ?

Don'y think so - Hymer seem make every excuse to disown warranty work in UK to 'vans purchased outside UK - their excuse seems to be that the UK spec is different to EU stock imported to the UK Any excuse
