Hi everybody.
Have been looking through the variuos threads and came across one about importing Eribas from the continent.
It goes on about swapping the reversing and fog lights and changing the 240v plugs on going back to the trade sites I noticed that some of the vans have the fog light on the left are the lights legal was going to look at one but would like some more information before we proceed.
Regards.
Kevin.

ooo lighting
the mot testers book used to have a whole section regarding lighting, height, positions, its all computerised now but the folk that pull you up are the ones who will most likely follow the lighting reg rules.
the fog and reverse lights lenses are swapped x bulbs if not same and wiring relocated or switched in the junction box so they work correctly i.e white reverse and red fog.
am afraid that's as technical as I go
you can buy the uk 240 plugs to switch from leisureshop or your local caravan place, think was cbe type on older models
according to an old catalogue from cak tanks cbe 240volt socket code mp22b/g..

Sounds like the one I wrote.

If it was a car it would fail an MOT test, having said that there is no MOT test for caravans in the UK and if you take it overseas it will be the right way round.

Its kind of a grey area as visitors over here are not expected to swap them round as they drive off the ferry ........ even on cars.

Strictly speaking it is the wrong way round, and I changed mine as I don't intend going overseas with it and if I did a GB sticker on the number plate would excuse it being the wrong side.

I don't have a 100% correct answer for you but I expect the highways department would.

If worried about it you could always put an NL sticker on the number plate

Seriously, is a reversing light of any use on a caravan? It's a piddly little light anyway and when it's almost 10 metres away from the driver I suspect that it's almost useless. It doesn't work on our van anyway.

I'm not sure if they're compulsory but I used to think that whoever rewired ours built in a double foglight (r/h and l/h) until I tried it a few months ago only to find that only one was working (can't remember which side now).

I believe that the basic idea of a 'reversing light' (on motor vehicles/trailers etc) is to warn others that you are reversing, not probably 100% to see where you're going in the dark - although it helps ! So probably more of a safety feature, like reversing warning buzzers ! The basic 13 pin to car wiring does not connect to the reversing light, only the full Road light and Supplementary wiring covers this - like the old 12N + 12 S twin plug set up.

Hi everybody.
Thanks for the replies suppose it,s nice to have the correct lights and 3 pin sockets but your not buying an Eriba just for that this will be our first caravan and wanted to know the legal side of it as for an NL sticker and goldmember accent hmmm.
