Why are the tables so big in Pucks??

Just spent a couple of hours building a new table for my Puck, I've only been away twice in the new van but the original one drove me mad on trip number one!! Why so big?
All for the bargain price of £11 (ok, I did use the leg off the old table and I already had some Vohringer board/edging strip in the garage).

Looks great... I agree with you, we used ours once, and is now at he back of the garage..

Perhaps it's 'little caravan syndrome' 😀😀😀

Same here, we put up the small porch awning and then it stays outside.....

Must agree that it did work outside but that was not enough to stop it being 'garaged' like shrublands has done!

I'm impressed. That's a very professional looking table.

What material did you use to make it from and how did you cut the slot for the edging strip?

Our table top got damaged some time ago when a can fell onto it while towing and I had thought of gluing on a new Formica top if I could find something suitable. Your method might be a better solution.

Are they that big 'cause they form the base for the 'foam upholstered' (i.e. non sprung upholstered) seating/ bed base ? Whatever ,they are miles too big for general interior table use !

Nice modification - really need to get round to doing something similar for my Puck L

think its the eriba tardis effect, you carefully get the table out and folks think where did that huge table come from..
perhaps with another table at other side of puck could go flying

Thanks for the compliment Aaron.
How do you post pictures in a reply, will be easier to explain than words!

Ribski.....no, if only it did make up some kind of bed base. It gets in the way even more at bed time!!!

Ah yes, still on a newbie learning curve!!
I've fitted out my last two VW campers over the past 5 years so still have lots of kit in the garage. I made the table out of lightweight 15mm board, 15mm edge strip with the slot cut with a 2mm router bit. The £11 I spent was in Wickes on 'L angle aluminium strip' and 'Thick foam draught excluder' for the connection to the Eriba metal strip which is a perfect fit.
If anyone wants a piece of white gloss 15mm board I'm happy to provide for the cost of postage or free to collect from Aylesbury, Bucks.

I bought a ready made table top and fitted an IKEA leg. It sits under a single strip of aluminium angle and rests on the cupboard top.
It suits us well for eating or playing cards or 'working' on laptops etc.
It stores conveniently under either bed locker.

I did think of just buying one of those Frantone but told myself not to be so lazy as I had all the bits!!
For anyone that is looking to buy a table ready made there are a few companies that do them in the 15mm board (in many different colours made to your measurements if you ask) for about £70 or about £35 if you want just the top and source a cheaper leg (like the IKEA one Frantone has)

I fitted one of these adjustable table legs when I made a table for my old Puck, incidentally it is also the standard leg that Hymer now use on the Eribas
