Hi All
The Tower electric fry pan is on it's way back, I wouldn't recommend it. We'll go for a Remoska and I'd really appreciate your thoughts on size and wattage. Also, would you buy the same size etc again.
Iv'e seen a post from Pepe which gives a European source and they are from £83 for the 22cm (8.5'') to £114 for the 29cm (11.5'') with a choice of wattage between 400 and 580.
when I phoned them they confirmed that if they needed repair, they would arrange to collect them. their web page is below.

I didn't like to say about the Tower pan. The problem is they are bottom heat and I have heard they do not adjust very well to the cooking temps/levels. Whilst I don't have a Remoska I am sure that they are the business as many happy customers here can vouch for them.

Standard Remoska for a couple , Grand for a family of 4 . I think the standard is 470 watts and the Grand 650? Lakeland are the only distributor in UK and will offer guarantee for the life of the product.
We have Standard. Use it in van and at home

We have the Standard, about the only thing I would want the Grand for would be to do a pizza. The answer to that is to do 2 small ones, while you share the first one the second one is cooking, simples.
Ours gets as much use at home as it does in the Eriba, wouldn't go away without it.

I chose to buy a 2nd hand one as I wanted the window in the lid to save opening it to check cooking progress. Got it for £15 off Preloved - no guarantee but took a gamble as from what I've heard they rarely go wrong.
I have the small one with the rack, which is perfect for 2 people :-)
p.s Just had a look on EBay & there's one for £20 + postage!!!

I used our Remoska in the van for the 1st time last night as I had to cook my own dinner as regulars in here know my lack of kitchen skills.
It did the jacket potato really well.

We got the grand Ramoska from Lakeland as we often go away with friends or to meet up with family so wanted the ability to cook larger meals. Baked a cake in it for the first time - wrights cake mix - came out perfect and it does a toasted cheese sandwich you wouldn't believe.
Great bit of kit can't wait for winter stews etc. But from what I can see if you can cook it in an oven you can cook it in a Ramoska

This makes for interesting reading and I personally didn't realise that they were produced in the Czech Republic which just goes to show that you learn something new every day. https://remoska.net/

I think people in the UK would be well advised to purchase from Lakeland if only to obtain the free lifetime guarantee.
Here's a link to their website with prices (gulp!) - maybe the guarantee isn't really free? Remoska Lakeland

Even when you add on the nine quid to ship it, the 2L 400W standard cooker from alza is £57 cheaper than Lakeland's price.
That's one hell of a premium for a 'free lifetime guarantee'. Or, to look at it another way, a hell of a lot to pay to subsidise all the people who buy a used one off Ebay and then get it replaced buckshee if it goes bang.
If these things blew up every five minutes I might think about stumping the extra, but I'd only think about it for a second; if they blew up every five minutes I wouldn't be buying one in the first place.

By Jove, he's right!
I was under the impression that Remoskas were exclusive to Lakeland - now I know different.
Smartarse!
There was a reliability problem with the model with the glass panel in the lid due to steam penetrating into the electrics but I see that the new ones now have a solid lid, so that should no longer been an issue.

It does appear that they have solved the problem with taking the lid off, normally, which drains water into the handle and trips out the electrics. However, the new version, still the same capacity, is shallower and tends to overcook the top of anything. Also the old stand was metal with handles so you could pick the whole lot up to move it. The new one has a plastic stand and handles on the side of the pot so you need three hands to move it.
Still very useful though. We use ours a lot.
