Hi all,
can anyone recommend a clothes airer that can be used outside from the window that will possibly allow the window to shut whilst in use? or, what do you find suits....many thanks.

If your van is one of the older types with two rear handles, you could make one of these: Clothes line

Thank you for that, but ours has the single rear rail. Your design and build looks very functional and Pro.

Don't say that, barny. He's already insufferably big-headed about this blasted thing, though Lord knows why. Anyone would think he'd made something genuinely useful

Incidentally - and on a different subject altogether - do you mind if I ask you what that hairy affair in your avatar photo thing is?

I don't want to offend the more sensitive members of the congregation, but I can't help thinking it looks rather like a merkin...

I don't know what a merkin is.

However, that big her-ree thing is a Bearskin as viewed from the rear and to the left you can just make out the white plume which is made from goats hair / her.

The background, Blue-Red-Blue are the regimental colours for the Brigade of Guards, the same as the neck ties, though why the "Royals" wear them I'm darned if I know.

The "Grenadier's" plume is on the left, the C--------m is red and on the right, sorry but an old C---------er will understand why a "Grenadier" can't bear to even

write about them, and I can't tell you why without being extremely rude. The "Scots" do not have one, I don't think it's because they are too tight. The "Irish" is

St Patricks Blue" on the right begorra, and the "Welsh" is White-Green-White, on the left "There's Pretty,....Isn't It".

The Bearskin is made from Canadian or Russian Black Bear.

Well, you did ask.

We use one of these in the link, we hang it over the single handle at the back and use some pipe insulation on the back where it touches the van.

It folds down flat and is easy to store in the side compartment.

We've got one similar to the one Pop320 links to. However, most of them are designed for use indoors and fit over radiators. Therefore the hooks are often too big a profile to fit over an Eriba window cill and allow the window to close.

However, last year while at the Eriba Fest we spotted this idea :-

g45p1645-Clothes-Airer-B.html

By using a couple of inches of awning rail strip and a bit of pipe insulation, we did a similar job on our airer and it works a treat on the non-awning side of the van.

You can't be in the "Guards" and lead a sheltered life. You learn very early on when in the showers to leave the soap where it is,...... on the floor.

No I didn't, because I don't know what one is. As for the "Sir Barny" bit, Iv'e always known my true destiny lay in that direction because everyone has always told me that eventually I should "Get Knotted".
