Replacing gas box

Hi all

I purchased a repro front locker back last year to replace the damaged one on my '88 pan familia. It says some trimming may be in order and they weren't kidding!

Off with the old to see what the fit was like.

The original is made of some kind of plastic that is quite flexible, unfortunately thick GRP isn't

Anyway with a lot of fettling with a dremmel I eventually got it somewhere close

I had to use some off the GRP I cut off to make infill pieces where the locker didn't come close to the body. But it's not half bad and better than the damaged original at least.

Good luck to anyone else trying this

What looks like a magnificent job on something I would never attempt. Good luck.

I got 3 shades of cream sealant, it should stop raining tomorrow so I'll see what is the best match and finish the job off
