Roller Catches

Hi All,
We are presently touring through Spain and the Spanish roads, speed bumps and pot holes seem to be taking their toll of those horrible brown roller catches fitted to all the overhead lockers, cutlery drawer and spare wheel cover resulting in several spillages from lockers and drawer. The rivet which holds the roller seems to work its way up releasing the roller or the rollers seem to split. It's now part of my daily routine to check each catch and hopefully fix it before it fails catastrophically. Btw it's not only Spanish roads, AL had to replace one when we bought the Puck, it failed in the showroom

Has anyone found a decent replacement for these catches?

I read a previous post which suggested replacing failing/damaged catches with the same again but they are such ( in my opinion) a bad design I wonder if it wouldn't be better to replace them with a more robust, fit for purpose, design. Is this possible without cosmetic damage to the lockers?

Thanks

Thanks Dave,
They certainly look a lot more meaty than the originals, as they appear to be ball catches rather than rollers I take it that the tongue can come in from the side?
( Just thinking how the originals are mounted)

Yes you can fit them either way and the balls can be individually tensioned, [there is a screw and spring each side]

Thanks Dave,
I'll get into B&Q in my return to Blighty. In the meantime vigilance and daily checks, btw mine uses torx screws, no problem as I have a full set of almost every type of screwdriver bit going but it may catch ( no pun intended ) others out.

You may find them in Leroy Merlin, they operate stores in both Spain and France, a bit like B&Q but more so.

Thanks Dave,

Ah yes, of course, I did try a couple of local Ferrier's? Here in Spain but no joy, I shall be passing a huge Leroy Merlin near Gibraltar so shall pop in.

Thanks for the tip Dave. Whilst away in September I popped into B&Q and purchased a pair of these roller catches. They're brilliant and just add a touch of quality and finesse to opening and closing the cupboards. I shall be changing them all in due course.
