No Claims Bonus

I'd be interested to know if anyone has their Eriba insured with a company that automatically adds on a no claims bonus discount?

I've just checked my documents and there's no mention of an NCB, Roger, although when I rang to renew and mentioned my recent claim they said that it 'had already been taken into consideration' when preparing the quote.

I'm with Chilli Underwriting (Zenith Insurance) through Cover4Caravans, Southend and paid £188 this year after the £1060 claim following bodywork damage while in France. Sums insured are £13,000 for caravan plus £1000 contents and £1000 awning.

As far as I can make out, the only thing insurance companies do automatically is send you a renewal notice with a much higher premium.

I get a bit fed up with it, to be honest. It happens routinely with almost everything - car insurance, house insurance, life insurance, van insurance, loss of hair cover, loss of confidence cover, loss of virginity cover; the whole lot.

You have to watch the buggers like hawks, so you do.

Yes I totally agree.

The reason for the question is that after discussing with Dave and Bunny Eribanaut how well Saga had dealt with their claim, I decided to get a quote from them.

I was upfront and honest about our current insurers, AA Towegate and without knowing how much Towergate were asking, Saga came up with a price which was roughly the same.
However, when I mentioned this, a 20% no claims bonus was offered.

Back to Towergate and as if by magic, a 20% loyalty bonus appeared. (this is not the first time I have had to wheel and deal with the AA).

My immediate thoughts were to dump Towergate after being with them for 6 years and go with Saga but life is hectic at the moment and we just haven't got the resilience to deal with the hassle and get them to post me proof of no claims especially as our insurance needs to be renewed next week.

I was in the AA several years ago (for the car) and the renewal went up every year until it was near to £100.00 at the renewal time they were advertising on Tv for new members at £39.00 needless to say the DD was cancelled and I now get green flag included in my car ins.

Not always, Pete. My car renewal this year was lower than last year's premium. I went on all the comparison websites and was only able to reduce it by £7 so for convenience sake, I shall be staying with them. Same thing for the memsahib's car too.

My renewal is up 2 September insured with Saga Insurance. My schedule includes NCD of 20% and a wheel clamp discount although it doesn't say how much !
They also offer protected no claims which I currently don't have, however the premium last year was £179.00 (Market Value Cover) £13000 van/Awning £1500 Contents personal belongings ....Renewal price £217.00 over 20% rise.
Will be making the call and shopping around

As previously posted, policy is up for renewal next month. I have been with Saga for the last 5 years and the premium has increased by 22% even though I have NCB of 20% included in the cost. Made the call and explained I had received quotes from other companies which were 22% cheaper
Had the usual banter about how comprehensive Saga cover was and then was offered £12.00 off the renewal figure so some result. Looked at some previous posts about Insurance and tried Lifesure for a quote. I included new/old instead of market value that I have with Saga. Lifesure came back with a massive £284.00 based on replacement cost of £22K. Incidentally Lifesure matched the Saga price of £205 for market value.
Still shopping

Towergate just quoted £384 new/old !

Obviously caravan insurance is the same as car insurance, or any other insurance I suppose. I was advised by an insurance rep to always check out prices every year on comparison sites for all insurance products as most insurance companies give rock bottom rates for the first year hopping for you to renew the following year. He said that you can nearly always better second year premiums. Mind you this practice has caught on and insurance companies are trying harder to even prices out. Looking at some of the quotes on this thread I didn't do so well with Caravan Guard, so I must try harder at renewal. To be honest I didn't know who to go to and didn't realise that comparison sites looked at caravans. Ce la vie

Well as I am in dispute with my car insurer that adds RAC cover to the policy and was mislead to say that Caravans are covered I am waiting for a reply and then will be switching insurers for Car and Caravan breakdown. My Eriba was best rates for insurance with Caravan Guard.
