And a revisit to this thread of April 2015 for our newer members:- Eriba History

Particularly "The Last days of Cernay".

I've only had the chance to examine one Airstream (at St Palais-sur-Mer last year) and I wasn't all that impressed.

As a fashion statement of the 'look what I've got' type it was quite effective as a lot of people were stopping to comment, me included, but on close examination the finish was crude with all those exposed rivet heads and great wodges of sealant oozing out of all the joints.

The interior was, to my eyes anyway, tacky, all black and white leather, chrome and shiny surfaces. The Yorkshire expression is 'like a whore's garret'.

Eribas seem to me to be much better made, less ostentatious and altogether classier, particularly those made in 2003.

Having camped in an Airstream 'Bambi' (the smallest) whilst in America a couple of years ago - I came to the same conclusions as Aaron Calder - overall finish quality leaves a lot to be desired :(

I stayed in one with Moira in California in the early 80's, it was the only accommodation we could find in a place called Moro Bay on the Pacific Coast Highway. I remember a huge bed about 4 feet off the floor, masses of dark stained wood and a sit up slipper bath! It must have weighed tons to tow. This one was late 40's I believe.
