There are straps attached to the rear upright part of the awning fabric which pass around the hooks of the side arms which locate into the brackets. These tension the fabric outwards so a small difference in the position of the brackets can be compensated for.

Thanks for that . Our brackets measure 333 cm which means the corners of the awning on the rail due not align to the position of the horizontal poles and the material corners. Looks like the awning correct but need to move one bracket another 11/12 cm to get the 344 cm centres. I plan to move the bracket to right of door as you look at van which should help with door opening.
