Just wondering if anyone out there has a Karsten awning. Would welcome details and thoughts, please. Also what type of pump/compressor is needed to inflate the tube. Many thanks.

Hi both.
If you've not already seen them, there are a couple of links beneath this photo:- g8p426-Karsten-Awning.html

Many thanks for the link. Have done lots research already! Since the wind at Corby wrecked our Fiamma sun canopy so dramatically we have been looking for something more substantial. (These are horrendously expensive I know but thought I'd check them out). You have to go to Holland to collect one but we've been planning a trip there anyway. I'd like to find out how others (if any) have found them.

I have seen one in action at an Eriba meet in Wareham. It was clearly a very substantial construction and the rigidity of the air beams was impressive. It was inflated through Schraeder valves (like car tyre valves???).
They have been making air beam tents for a long time but are not very common.

Hi Magpie, why don't you also look at the new Kampa that are now doing inflatables for the Eriba.

Thanks. It has one curved air tube at the front and then three poles to hold up the roof - so a sort of cross between a frame and as air awning perhaps. I like the fact that its made of polycotton but that might make it heavy though possibly not more than the Bolgna or Walker awnings.

Thanks, yes that's on my research list. We might go and look at one when Norwich camping has one on show.
