We are away as the mo, we have a couple of Bromptons and when possible we try to find routes which are free from traffic. At York there is a nice route which uses the old railway line. Mrs Poptop isn't the most confident rider so when a leathery looking MAMIL (middle age man in Lycra) hurtled around the corner trying break the land spread record shouting and screaming for her to get out of the way, it almost broke what little confidence she had.
I like my bikes I also have a racer and a tourer, riding at full pelt on a converted railway line designed for walkers and cyclists is not on. I did manage to shout that he had to learn to ride himself one day but he was wrapped up in his own little selfish world.
Anyway rant over, I am sat outside my van with a nice cup of tea....

As a cyclist who rides on similar paths that are shared access, I have many times shouted at cyclists 'they are not at the Velodrome just as the skim past some poor unsuspecting pedestrian. Only tars us all with the same brush selfish thoughtless MAMIL that are old enough to know better in most cases.

Yout right Taffy, York seems to be full of them at the moment, another MAMIL decided that a Red light didn't mean stop and blatantly rode through a busy junction. The daft thing is that most of these buffoons will have a car and already know the highway code...
