I have just bought an Eriba Pan 1993, my first ever caravan. I intend to do some solo caravanning but will not be able to move the van by myself. Advice needed about appropriate remote controlled motor movers. Anyone had one fitted? Do you know of reputable fitter in Greater Manchester area?

Hi Barbara, I can't help you in detail but generally I have observed that the Reich mover is very popular and relatively easy to fit, I have one fitted to my 2007 Triton and it works perfectly, couldn't travel without it.
One extra thing to consider when comparing the cost of a mover is that older Eribas do not have an onboard leisure battery as standard. This is the first requirement of fitting a mover so that extra cost has to be factored in. Thus a £600 mover fitted to an ordinary caravan will cost maybe £900+ on an Eriba. If you already have a leisure battery then no problem :)
Another point to consider is that the Alko chassis on which the Eriba is mounted generally requires a special fixing plate, not expensive but one should be aware. Hopefully somebody in your area could recommend a suitable specialist fitter. :)

Sorry I don't have any personal experience with movers - my Puck L is considered to have a chassis that's too low to fit a mover - no such a problem with your Pan, I think :)

I'm sure a wealth of information will be forthcoming on the subject from other members, in due course !

Hi and
Tom & Margaret
It would seem that most people opt for the Riche economy model, we have one on our Triton. We were told that it is very hard to fit motor movers on Eriba's owing to the very low clearance and that the Riche movers offer very low clearance levels. Hopes this helps..

We had a Reich comfort mover fitted by Midland Motor Movers to our Triton. They fitted it at our house in no time and it is excellent.

I am getting a mover fitted to my 320GT tomorrow. It will be an Ego Titanium fitted by Autowfix, much lighter and about two hundred quid cheaper than the Reich! I shall report back in due course!

It turns out that the fitter drove his van into a ditch (he's ok) and couldn't make it to me so will report back another day!

At last got the EgoTitanium fitted today. All done for £849. I bought an agm battery for £80 which I will connect up to the 12 v electrics (via a fuse, of course).
The mover seems to work fine and gets th van up my sloping drive with no problems. Comes with 5 year parts warranty.

That's a good price for supply and fitting. The cheapest quote I had was £1050 for a Reich Economy, which included drop plates and electrics.( not with Autowfix) I did contact our local Autowfix guy who was doing a job near to us a few weeks ago..He looked at my Pan Duo T and said he couldn't fit a mover on it! The fitter had never fitted a mover on an Eriba so maybe it was just his lack of experience.I will contact their head office.
