Hello from West Sussex

Hi. We are new to the group, not yet an Eriba owner. We have a 1980s Rapido folding caravan, looking to replace this with a 3 berth or small 4 berth Eriba. My husband is considering taking a trip to Holland to get one and I'm searching in the Uk. Only looked at a few when camping, but have fallen in love already.

Hi Paula and welcome to Eribafolk.
You've said that you're looking for a small 3 or 4 berth Eriba but do you want one with a washroom? An Eriba washroom will not give you an adequate shower but it's somewhere where folk can wash their bits. A useful WC however which can be used as a big cupboard during the day.

If you're after a 3 berth without a washroom then dependent on how tall you and hubby are, a Familia 310 would suit. This is because some Eribas are across van sleepers with a 6' long bed and some Eribas are length of van sleepers with full length beds. The 310 is a cross van sleeper as is the Triton 418 ( no wash room) and the Triton 430 ( with washroom).

Most of the Troll range are 3 to 4 bed sleepers but non are truly 4 berth. All Trolls have a wash room.

See this link for the most popular layouts. :- g15-POPULAR-ERIBA-TOURING-LAYOUTS.html

The other important thing to consider is the size of your tow car and it's towing capacity. More modern Tritons and Trolls, normally newer that 2000, can be as heavy as 1200km (or more). Older Tritons and Trolls are 1000kg.

There is some advice on here regarding importing a van from the Netherlands. You should find it by using the search engine. Any problems, just ask

Hi again Paula.

I know it's a long way up country but there'll soon be a 2009 Familia 310 going up for sale at www.eribacaravansales.co.uk

We all know the lovely couple who have owned him for most, if not, all of his life ( yes, it's a him) and he has been well loved and regrettably has had to be sold.

Thank you for the second and advice. Not too worried about having a wc but would be a bonus. Triton may be the better option for us.

Hello Lavyfletch and welcome...

I would say that it's worth a trip to automotive leisure in Poole (not too far from you) just to see some / most of the layout options.
We did this and it definitely helped narrow the field, we considered importing, but knew that a lower 'euro spec' was likely, plus the
logistics and cost to source, secure and import turned us back to the UK market.

We got lucky in finding what we wanted privately and so improved on the dealers 'typical price range'. Spent near enough a day inspecting,
trying every fixture and fitting, + got to tow it for 1/2 and hr... many I would guess will be genuinely 'pre-loved'!

Ours is a 540 Troll with a sleep 'length-wise arrangement' (queen size-ish) I'm 6' my wife 5' 5'' and this arrangement works really well
the 3rd bed isn't (in my opinion) OK for a child but nothing more, OK for our Labrador at floor level though.

Our plan is for use with 2 adults 1 dog and when our 2 girls visit they use the North Face Dome Tent next door, sleeping on an air mattress.

We also want to really cover some miles across Europe (assuming they will still welcome us next year) and didn't want a Van any bigger
than it needed to be.

The Wash Room is just that...the shower could be 'manoeuvred' at a push, but in truth it should be considered for 'emergency' use..
This is not really an area designed to get truly wet, Toilet is OK.

Good Luck with your search...
