Jimmy Perry's death a few days ago set me thinking as to why we see' Dad's Army' on our screens almost ad nauseam while his other classic series 'It Aint Half Hot Mum' is never broadcast? The answer has to be political correctness.

So here is a compilation of scenes featuring my favourite character, Battery Sergeant Major 'Shut up' Williams (Windsor Davies) at his best to brighten your day.

And here's his famous catchphrase:

Enjoy.

He's Welsh you know, lovely boy.

On the subject of Windsor Davies, has anyone seen "Grand Slam"? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363653/

I once met Don Estelle (lofty) signing copies of his record "whispering grass" in a shop in Blackpool many years ago.

I could say I resemble that remark or position, but mine was "senior" to Sergeant Major! more pay for me, less hassle, but I did "stand in" occasionally, had to practise my shouting though
