Well I managed to disconnect it and carry it to the conservatory, where its now connected to the c-tek

Multimeter reading shows 13.26 volts both connected to the charger and disconnected? is that right?

Nev,
I expect that's OK as the charger's probably sensed that the battery is good and has dropped into maintenance mode where it pulse charges. I'm guessing that if you happen to check the voltage with your mulimeter in between pulses then of course the voltage will just be the same as the ordinary terminal voltage of the battery because the charger isn't actually doing anything at that time. I think that the Ctek starts a charging pulse when the battery's terminal voltage drops by around 5% so the interval between pulses when the charger is in this mode could be fairly long.
If the terminal voltage should drop to less than 12.9V the charger will sense this and begin a whole new fresh charge cycle.
In short, I reckon all is just fine and 'tikety boo' so sit back, relax, and enjoy the winter!!!
Cheers,
Steve.

The green light on the battery and the yellow light on the car symbol show that the battery is fully charged . So you can either disconnect it and give it a monthly boost, as I do, (got a thing about leaving things on unsupervised,) or leave it to keep the battery topped up by itself.

I must admit to being a bit dubious about the charger as it was second hand when I bought it, a little later it looked like this and showed 13.8 volts.

Last time I looked it was back to the fully charged symbol and 13.45 volts

Here's a quote from the manual:
Pulse - Maintenance phase, where the charger delivers a pulse if the battery voltage
drops. Charging varies between 95% and 100%. The battery receives a pulse when the
voltage reduces. Keep the battery in good condition when not in use. The charger can be
connected for months.
Honesty, it sounds like it's doing it's stuff to me
If you are really worried though and want to sell your charger.... well..... ermmmm... we could easily give it a home here!!!!!

I have a mains feed from my garage to keep my battery charged,it also powers my oil filled rad. The battery is a gel type so no worry about the cells needing topping up, no problem in 3 years.

The ctek charger comes with extra leads so today I bought some battery clamps and wired it in to the
supplementary leads for an over winter connection, if I need the charger for other work I can still use the crocodile clips without the need to remove the long term connectors.

Ctek themselves recommend the MXS25 or MCXS 25 EC for caravan use http://www.ctek.com/pt/en/chargers with reviews https://www.tayna.co.uk/CTEK-MXS-25-25A-...views-8842.html

Does anybody know if this compares to the ctek please ?
Maypole 3.8A 12V Intelligent Battery Charger
It's a similar sort of device - slightly different operation but you can be sure it will charge your battery correctly and safely.
