Traitor in your midst
We've sold our Triton 430 and bought an Adria Coral 680ST motorhome. It was so sad to see our Triton being driven away....but we are very excited about the motorhome....it's not new, of course, but it's rather beautiful....sooo much space....but it's BIG so we'll both be taking a motorhome manouvering course ASAP. We are often away at either end of the year when the weather is not so good so comfortable living inside will make things that much more enjoyable. We'll shall definitely miss the convenience of the car ...though we are thinking of getting a couple of E-bikes. We usually stay fairly close to habitation since it's always nice to be within walking distance of amenities and to be able to sample the local tipple without worrying about driving. We are very excited about staying at the aires in France and Spain as some are in such glorious locations....this is what decided us finally to go for a motorhome......plus the fact that we want to be away for longer periods of time and the ability to stay for a night or two free of charge or for less than 10€ is rather attractive. What we will not miss is everything associated with awnings..putting them up and taking them down especially in inclement weather. We will, very likely, continue to accost Eriba owners, on campsites, into the future, as we have found them to be rather lovely friendly people, and we shall never feel anything but warmth for these amazing little homes on wheels.
Farewell and happy travels one and all.

Hi Pauline and Michael. How dare you .....
Seriously though, in your case we can see the advantages as you do all your travelling on the wide open roads of France and Spain and enjoy the beach life.
Good luck with your future travels but it need not be farewell. We hope you'll still pop onto the forum from time to time and compare notes.

We spent a number of years touring mainly France and Spain and really enjoyed it in our motorhome....great fun and relatively cheap.

Ditto. we will still want to hear about wonderful places visited and good sites. We talk to motorhomers, some of our best (but misguided) friends have motorhomes. Whilst we all believe our Eribas are the best what really matters is getting out there and living life to the best of your abilities.

Hi Michael and Pauline.
Good luck on you new travels in your motorhome. I can understand and appreciate your reasoning - travelling about is so much easier in a motorhome and as you say there are plenty of free places to overnight across Europe. We've had 3 motorhomes, each time we changed the motorhome got larger and with each change the type of motorhoming changed. When we look back our best times were in the first van which was small enough to take more or less anywhere. In the end the last motorhome being over 3.5 tonne we were banned from entering villages in France because of weight restrictions. The last motorhome was very comfortable and extremely warm in winter. Your will also find that driving the motorhome is not too daunting and to see over hedges while going along is a bonus.
Let us know how you get on, traitor - no, you'll be back one day!
Safe travelling where ever your wanderings take you
Robin & Pat

We waved good-bye sadly to our Triton 430 a week ago today.....following our purchase, a few days prior, of an Adria Coral Supreme motorhome.....we were enticed by all those lovely free Aires in villages and towns in France and Spain where we spend most of our touring time. That plus the fact that my bones are becoming increasingly arthritic and awning erection is becoming ever more difficult made us opt for a motorhome. We have some bits and bats for sale now so I will be advertising those in the 'For Sale' section. We shall continue to accost, in the nicest possible way, Eriba owners whom we have found to be the lovliest people as we wander about..
Very best wishes to all and thank you all for the wonderful help and support we've had from this forum.

We did the same thing last year. But then our motorhome / camper van is an Eribacar so we've got the best of both worlds.

Thanks Roger and Amanda. So far I'm unable to tear myself away from the Forum...it's such a friendly place and we've had so much help over the years. It'll be a while before I can wean myself off. Interestingly I've joined a motorhome forum but it is not so friendly as this one but it's early days and time will tell.....I logged on to the caravan section by mistake and would you believe the caravaners were soooooo much more friendly....had loads of welcome messages and advice in response to my request for advice. Interesting times ahead...we'll miss you guys

Hi Robin and Pat, Thanks so much for your wishes. Good to hear about your experience. Our motorhome is quite big at 7.3 metres and 3,500kg but it seems to allowed most places. The layout is just fantastic...we feel in love with it completely. We're going on the CC motorhome maneuvering course at the beginning of March but we'll have been out a couple or three times before then. We were after comfort and the absence of awnings. We're away off toward the middle of March and wanted to have some competence before we tackle the continent. It's the overhang that most worries us never having had to cope with that sort of thing before. We have a Toyota Hiace window van at the mo so are both used to driving a smallish van. It seems that being over 3.500kg seems to present all sort of problems. We've decided to take the train across to France as we've read some stuff about 'grounding' on ferry ramps so we thought we would try to avoid that sort of thing until we were more seasoned. Happy travels...Pauling and Michael
