Awning dilemma

Our children with their young infants want to use our little 1992 Puck for holidays but wish to avoid the use of our dated Soplair original awning as they wish to avoid arguments!!. As they also want an inner tent for sleeping we wonder if it would be better to purchase a drive-away awning which might provide more suitable accommodation. I note that most start at a rail height of 180 cm when our rail is only 150cm. What knowledge do you have out there that you might wish to share? All advice will be much appreciated. Easy erection of the awning is also essential. Thoughts, please?

Pup tents are out of the question then, for the next 7 or 8 years anyway.
If you want flexibility had you considered something such as one of the Quechua inflatable base units from Decathlon. You could have this a little distance away from the van and free standing, or open the side up and pull over the top of the van.
These are seasonal and so may not be available in the stores.

Take a look at the Oxygen Movelite - it's a cracker. Will fit the 180cm limit, has access door at side providing a porch between awning and van, there are zip in sleeping sections. http://www.outdoor-revolution.com/motorh...movelite-2.html

Thanks for the thoughtful replies. As the awning rail height is only 150 cm on our 92 Puck it makes drive-away products difficult. Think the best answer seems to be the Quechua suggestion. Need to explore the markets or just put up our dated Soplair. Are new poles available for the Soplair as ours are well worn by the previous owner?

I have the Oxygen Movelite for my puck, There are straps on each end of the tunnel to take up any roof sag the low rail height causes. Works a treat!!
