I think along similar lines. If in the van and a fire starts I am out of the door, or if I cannot get to the door then it's the window.
The extinguisher is kept in the open gas locker, so if outside it is safe for me to get to and poke into the van or awning if I think it's possible.
In reality though I'm no hero so the insurance can do it's bit.
